In a new strategy to battle of the Amazon Kindle, Apple has worked to integrate the Gutenberg Project Catalog on the iPad. Gutenberg Project is a catalog of approximately 30,000 ebooks that are maintained by volunteers and available to download for free. Reports suggest Apple may have imported the whole catalog to make it available to iPad users at no cost.

This gives Apple another edge to take on Amazon in offering the most comprehensive database of ebooks – paid or unpaid. Needless to say, what a smart move!
